University guidance provides a broad CHF 500–1,000 reference for a shared-apartment room near the university. Current private listings include CHF 800–900 and around CHF 855 including utilities near Langstrasse, with higher premium furnished rooms.
Check ZVV zones and products
ZVV’s personal adult monthly NetworkPass currently costs CHF 88 for 1–2 zones. Zurich city zone 110 counts specially in the tariff structure, so check the actual route and product rather than assuming every commute costs the same.
Deposit account and registration
Swiss housing guidance provides a three-month-rent maximum for qualifying residential security, generally placed in a special rental-deposit bank account in the tenant’s name. Do not transfer a large cash deposit to an unexplained personal account.
